As a progressive professional with 10 years in the fashion/textile industry, I took a sabbatical from the industry in 2014 to allow myself the time to be with my small children and focus on their fundamental upbringing whilst I continued to advance my skills outside of fashion Industry contracting and freelancing for various marketing projects.

During my tenure as a fashion designer, I have been responsible for managing my team, product strategy, fashion, the artwork for garments and all-over repeats/rotary prints on fabric for client approval, from brief right through to production.
As a contractor/freelance graphic designer, the projects included retouch products/photo editing and creating elements for TV programs. Campaigning, advertising, social media, ticketing, and CI branding for music festivals, holiday programs, and startup businesses.
I am confident and creative in my ideas and collections, and I have enhanced my interpersonal abilities and cultivated a reputation as a major contributor through communication and time management. I was a Graphics Textile Artist working for the company Jacques Hau Clothing Company solely supplying Woolworths within the Girls wear department. I was responsible for all artwork on the garments as well as for all over repeats/rotary prints on fabric. My experience includes design and construction of the garment therefore help where necessary to meet our targets and deadlines .I compile the Technical specifications for production as well as or printers and embroiders. My position has included training new employees. Finding fresh inspiration for the season to season buying trips and keeping with up and coming trends.
Promoted to Designer Lead
I managed my team and I worked closely with the seamstress department and pattern making department and oversaw fits. I composed the design as well as theartwork for garments and all-over repeats/rotary prints on fabric for client approval from brief right through to production. Keeping up to date with up and coming trends and often creating trend forecasts, finding fresh inspiration for the season to season buying trips. I often trained new employees and worked well within a team. Designs were made up and presented and sold to the buyers. During my time at Jacques Hau 90% of the companies garment supply was on the Woolworths floor and supplied solely to Woolworths in all of South Africa for all kids wear, (boys and girls ages from 2 years to 16 years) for all Sleepwear, Thermals and BoysUnderwear Departments and Girls 2pk Dresses as well as a brand range. The company was
awarded supplier of the year 2 years running. I also compiled the Technical specifications for production as well as for printers and embroider suppliers. My sales experience grew through presenting my samples and cad designs to buyers at head office retail companies. These presentations sold the product, that was then manufactured and put on shelves nationwide in SA.

Style Eyes Of California
With some Graphic Design knowledge and skill, Style Eyes Of California employed me and trained me in house in the Textile industry trade. I took on all responsibility in their Graphics Department as their sole Textile Designer and Textile Artist.

I designed all the graphics artwork within the company including branding for a new development in Ballito, letterheads and business cards. All design, as well as the graphics art work was for all Ladies, Men’s and Kiddies wear, my duties included composing together the artwork for character prints such as Batman, Power Puff Girls, Scooby-Doo, Hulk, Looney Tunes and Spiderman. I also created original designs, including surf prints for a new logo called New Wave for Edgars, and Promotional prints with the logos of Millers, Castle, Black Label, and Brutal Fruit, including my own design for the prints for men’s and ladies garments.
Other duties for the running of the graphics department, was to keep an organised filing system for graphics art work and story boards. Taking photos of all garments to keep record. I liaised with Warner Bros. for approvals for character prints as well as dealing with the printers for all the graphics. I also compiled a projections folder using the internet for the next seasons fashion for the merchandisers’ trip overseas

I was contracted as a designer for head wear where we designed and supplied major chain stores i.e. Truworths, Identity, Woolworths, Edgars, etc. For Men’s, Ladies and Kids. My duties were from the design of the product, specifications for china, sample amendments, liaison and meeting with buyers, right through to production stage. Also composing together the artwork for licensee character prints as well as the approval process.

Whilst working for Naartjie Clothing (head office) my duties included taking on the overflow of all related work within the design team, helping the assistant designers, designing accessories and artworks, compiling the technical concept designs for export to China. Compiling the technical cads for production with all the relevant fabric specifications, as well as composing artwork. I also assisted with the design of the labels and packaging.
